NATHAN FOOTE: HEAD COACH

Nathan a previous National level competitive swimmer with SGB returned to the club in January 2026 taking on the assistant coaching role. In May Nathan transitioned into the Head Coach role.

Nathan has spent time in both Melbourne and QLD coaching and brings a wealth of knowledge to our club. Nathan enjoys the team camaraderie and family feel of a regional club and loves the atmosphere at Country and Gippsland meets.

DYLAN MUIR: ASSISTANT HEAD COACH

A previous competitive swimmer of SGB, Dylan took up the Head
Coach position with SGB during the 2012/13 season. Starting with a small group of 45 swimmers, he has been instrumental in building the club up to its current membership base of over 240 swimmers. 2026 has seen Dylan move into the Assistant Head Coach position, enabling Dylan more time to work off pool deck on admin tasks. 

Dylan’s involvement with Gippsland Swimming and other performance programs has enabled a strong network of coaches that he can bounce ideas off, compare notes, and work alongside to develop his coaching further.

 

LORRI McKENZIE – COACH

Lorri has been an Assistant Coach at SGB since 2014. Lorri’s passion for swimming began at a young age as a competitive swimmer. She has been swim teaching since 2011, which fueled her passion to pursue a Coaching career. Lorri has her Bronze Coaching qualification, has been involved as a coach for Gippsland District Junior Teams and taken part in Gippsland Academy sessions. Most of Lorri’s time on pool deck is focused on developing our Development, Junior and Country Squad program. In more recent times she has taken charge of the SGB Multi Class program, a new passion for her. 

 

SAM O’KEEFE: COACH

Having been in the water from 3 months old and competing from when she was 3 years old, swimming has played a huge part in Sam’s life. Sam’s mother was a Swimming Teacher and her father the Head Coach and President of the club she swam for. Sam has loved swimming for over 40 years and it has brought her so many beautiful memories of interstate, local and country competitions, fitness, discipline, team mates, successes, disappointments and now the pleasure of coaching.  Sam is currently coaching Juniors, Country and State swimmers with a Bronze Level qualification. Coaching has enabled Sam to follow her passion and love for the sport, which is evident in the way she coaches.

 

TRINITY O’KEEFE: COACH

Trinity is a State and National level swimmer, who has been to a number of State and Age National Championships in her favourite stoke of Breaststroke.   Trinity’s love of swimming is evident on pool deck with the passion and experience she shares with the swimmers under her care.

 

SGB has a number of older swimmers who have completed their foundation coaching course and training. Look out for them on pool deck. These coaches bring a wealth of knowledge to our coaching team.

SOPHIE McKENZIE: FOUNDATION COACH  

Sophie takes pride in teaching her development squad swimmers on Friday nights at the Leongatha Facility. She shares her knowledge and experience as a fully qualified swim teacher for a number of years with the local swim schools and as a National level swimmer.

 

HANNAH SIMMONS: FOUNDATION COACH

Hannah has been with SGB her whole swimming career, she has completed her Foundation coaching course and has been a learn to swim teacher for a number of years.  Hannah has a wealth of knowledge and her bubbly personality bring so much joy to her students . Hannah has recently returned to the club following a gap year in the UK, where she had a fabulous time travelling and working as a Nanny.

 

JOSH HUNT: FOUNDATION COACH

Josh has been a member of SGB as a swimmer for 10+yrs, joining SGB at 7yrs old and has swum at many State level Championships.  Recently completing both the foundation coaching course and a lifeguarding course; look out for him on pool deck at both pools.

 

RAHNI MATHESON: FOUNDATION COACH

Rahni is another of the clubs 10+yrs swimmers. Rahni swim teaches with a local swim school and fills in with the development and fitness squads when needed. Rahni has a keen interest in swimming and is looking at a future in the coaching and fitness industry.
