HISTORY: SOUTH GIPPSLAND BASS SWIMMING CLUB
The South Gippsland Bass swimming club was first incorporated in 1999. Starting from humble beginnings, the club was nurtured by previous Head Coach Ivan Moore, running a few sessions a week at the Wonthaggi indoor pool. Ivan who was once the head coach of Nunawading Swim Club in the 1960’s, produced many talented swimmers at SGB before retiring at the conclusion of the 2011-12 season. Dylan Muir, former Assistant Coach to Ivan took up the position of Head Coach and continues to build the club with the help of the ever expanding coaching team and Committee.
South Gippsland Bass now has over 240 registered swimmers and the program has expanded to operate out of Wonthaggi and Leongatha pools. With squads from Development through to National level.
In recent years SGB has produced a number of Victorian finalists and medalists, National qualified swimmers and National finalists, along with a large host of 11 & under swimmers who have achieved a high standard at the Victorian Country 8-11 meet to be ranked among the best young swimmers in Victoria.
